A-Z Cover Series 2

The two series of woven Covers were created by a diverse group of highly skilled artists and artisans from across the country who were sent instructions for weavings that reflected the duration, technical process and subjective decision-making process. For A-Z Cover Series 2 - Subjective Composition, weavers were given a simple set of instructions (similar to those used by Sol Lewitt to generate wall drawings, or a score produced for a postmodern dance performance). The resulting works have a common underlying system that manifests uniquely in each work. Similar to the Single Strand Shapes the formal appearance of the Covers is characterized by the prescribed rules of its making.
