Personal Panel Gouaches

These gouache on paper paintings depict Zittel wearing and using A-Z Personal Panels at A-Z East and in her home in Altadena, California. The Personal Panels are garments constructed entirely of rectangular elements and worn as part of Zittel’s ongoing series of personal uniforms. These paintings depict the garments in their full range of functions; panels are intended to be universal and multi-functional, serving as table coverings, something soft to step on when you get out of bed, and something decorative that can be hung on a wall.
