Uniform for Andy Stillpass
1993
In the 1990s, Zittel often collaborated with clients to gain an insight into their lifestyles, desires and needs. She created customized uniforms for them, not unlike her own Personal Uniforms. In order to qualify for a Uniform, the client must agree to wear the Uniform exclusively for some length of time, removing all other garments from their wardrobe. The intent was to enhance their lives, sense of personal identity and to alter their perception of need, something she achieved through her own Personal Uniform project. The client would be presented with a multiuse garment suitable for all of the varied activities in his or her own specific life. A-Z Uniform for Andy Stillpass suited his career as the owner of a car dealership as well as his pastime collecting art. The conservative styling was appropriate for both activities, increased freedom and flexibility.
